Tecmo assaulting E3 with ninjas, zombies ... basketball?

Dear Koei, Things are great, and so far infection-free here at E3. Sure, we miss your quirky style, who wouldn't? Still, we're keeping ourselves busy readying games for the show, including Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, which ships for the PlayStation 3 this fall. Other games we've got at our booth this year include Family Fun Football on the Wii, action game Undead Knights for the PSP, and -- oh -- did you know we were making a basketball game? It's true! We've got several downloadable titles this year, including a "contemporary retro" arcade-style basketball game called NBA Unrivaled and an action puzzler named Puzzlegeddon, both we hope to hit XBLA and PSN later this year. Team Ninja's PS3-exclusive "art nouveau" shooter, Quantum, and the musical 2D platformer Fret Nice will also be on hand, though neither are expected to ship until sometime next year. All in all, we've got a lot of games to show off -- plus without any Dynasty Warriors games blocking our view we've got a clear shot those Ninja Gaiden models. Oo la la! Wishing you were here, TecmoRead | Permalink | Email this | Comments

First Tony Hawk Ride screens look like Tony Hawk

click to Tony-size
Much hoopla (hoopla, we say) has arisen over the skateboard controller for Tony Hawk Ride. We've seen pictures of it. We've seen people awkwardly use it. But what about the gameplay? We've got the first screens of the game and, as it turns out, it looks a lot like a Tony Hawk game. Imagine that. Check out all the screens in the gallery below.

Rest assured, plummeting Turtles do land. More specifically: TMNT: Smash Up will land on September 22, Ubisoft announced during its E3 press conference today. Your Shape determines your shape with a camera

Ubisoft has revealed a camera-based fitness game, coming this holiday season for the Wii. Your Shape comes with a custom USB camera that plugs right into your Wii, and will use the visual input to determine whether you're slim or sloppy, and then give you a trainer-based workout designed to send you in the right direction. It's a good thing Ubisoft is being so innovative here -- the Wii fitness market is virtually untapped so far. Could a game with a casual interface designed with the promise of a more healthier lifestyle actually sell? We'll have to wait and see -- the bundle is due out sometime this year.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Red Steel 2 hitting store shelves in Wii MotionPlus bundle

As one would assume, a samurai western video game with a heavy focus on the implementation of a peripheral that allows for alleged 1:1 digital sword maneuvering will be hitting store shelves bundled with said attachment. Or, to put it in monosyllabic terms, we just learned at the Ubisoft press conference that the Wii MotionPlus exclusive Red Steel 2 will be bundled with Wii MotionPlus at launch. Are you like, totally surprised?Permalink | Email this | Comments

Rock Band Wiikly: Alice Cooper tracks are out for summer

This week, the Rock Band 2 Wii DLC collection receives a much-needed infusion of back-catalog content, including a set of six vaguely shocking classic rock songs from Alice Cooper. In addition, nineteen more blasts from the past will be available tomorrow for 200 Wii Points each, from Roy Orbison, Queens of the Stone Age, and more. We know it's hard to pay attention to Rock Band news that isn't about The Beatles, but this has the benefit of being available. Soon.

The Beatles: Rock Band intro is our 'Real Love'

Rock Band fans will no doubt recognize the 3D models found in the background action of The Beatles: Rock Band, but it was the game's intro that really stole our hearts at Microsoft's Pre-E3 Conference. Using a stylized animation that spanned the early days to the later years of the band's history, the intro video to The Beatles: Rock Band left us wishing the entire game adopted the unique style instead of the standard Rock Band look. Take a look for yourself (above) and let us know which you'd prefer.Permalink | Email this | Comments
