I've been weeding out the forums, like I said I've been doing. So, posts will drop if a post is deleted. Like I said, only if they're no longer relevant will they be deleted. So anyone upset, please calm down.

Of course it would lower a post count, since posts are counted by the actual number there. However, since the number of posts really doesn't mean much, I don't understand why someone would be so upset over it. I'll apologize for the initial harsh reaction, but I do hope people calm down.

i think the number of posts tells how much expeirence the user has on the site and if the user is working for the 500 post badge then the post number will lowere and they will never get the badge

if possible i think it should be counting the number of posts the user makes and then if the post is deleted the number doesn't drop

i'm not mad or anything i am just stateing my opion on the way i think it should be

Good idea, but then someone who wants to cheat could just add, then delete over and over again.

Well, I can tell you what doesn't get deleted.

Reviews will never -ever- be deleted. And you will receive extra points for them in the future once the system is worked out.

Most things Wii related do not get deleted. It's the stuff that isn't Wii related that gets deleted - or the time restraint ones (Example being old play days set up for people that they will be on Mario Kart, etc).

Most things that actually have anything to do with the Wii and good information, do get kept. So, it would make it easy for a person to get 500 posts, if they contribute things that make sense and not just to up their posts/points.

Example, while some of you have seen maybe five or ten of your posts go down, you may still have 200-300 posts. While I haven't finished looking through the general forum section, most of those you will be keeping because they were posts that had things to do with the Wii, or interesting information. That's an awesome thing to have so many posts and have them actually be quality Wii stuff!

Everyone right now is putting everything into general.

And if general doesn't get weeded out, in the future we will have a billion pages, some of it one word posts to up their own post count.

Personally, I'd prefer that they get deleted. There's times I'm looking for information and I end up spending time reading about something I'm not interested in. I think that deleting unrelated posts will increase the quality of the forum and save space.

As for the Post Count, I'd have more respect for someone with a higher post count since I'd know that their contributions are helping the forum.

Here's to all of us reaching 500.

PS: Feel free to delete this along with the rest of this thread. Or move it to a Website Comments Discussion section. :-)

Yeah, Dave, I think there are lots of old useless stuff on the forums that need to be deleted at some time or other. I don't care, really, if my post count goes down somewhat, because I don't really care too much for a "badge" or whatever because I reached 500 posts.

I see what you're getting at Alanna!! Wii shouldn't be posting nonsense, why would someone post allot just to get their post count up? Its not that big of a deal, & isn't worth it! Sure badges are cool but come on?

Btw, I moved my Advance wars(Good game) review into the REVIEW section!

HaHa touché (lol)

& yeah, but I think Wii(lol) need to stay Wii related,(with some exceptions) because what person wants to come on a Wii site & find allot of non Wii topics? I really like talking about other stuff too though!! (Such as computer tech & stuff like that )

The really off topic ones get kept for quite awhile if they're active - definetly. Even the non-active ones get kept for some time before I clean them out. I was deleting things from March (4 months ago), so I'd say they were dead topics. The stuff that still was important, even if it was opened in February, is always kept.

I'm just wondering, I know you aren't going to delete REVIEW topics(good idea) but will you delete a HOW TO topic? I don't think you should!!!

No, I will not be deleting how to topics, of course, either. Anything informative will not be deleted. As someone new to the forums could always benefit from the information, and they're very good archived topics.

Rggg. All of my stuff from the beginning of the site is where my first 100 posts came from. Be careful what you delete, I want that 500 posts badge. I know it seems pointless and stupid for a bunch of pixels, but I'll most likely be the first to get it, so we'll actually get to see what it looks like. D: Be careful, don't delete too much of my stuff. I don't mind the useless junk topics deleted, but please be careful.

Cheers :)
