Warren Spector, the creator of the Deus Ex series, is apparently working on a dark new take on Mickey Mouse & The Magic Kingdom, codenamed Epic Mickey.

The game is for the Wii, according to concept artist Tony Pulham, whose CV reveals he recently joined Spector's Junction Point Studios to work on the game.

Various concept pieces unearthed on other artists' personal sites reveal a stunning new look for the Disney icon, like a hulking paddle steamer adorned with giant Mickey Mouse-style ears. Fred Gambino's work reveals that particular take, along with a 'Zombie Goofey' half dog, half robot... thing.

Disney Interactive bought Junction Point two years ago, and it has been persistently rumoured since that Spector is working on a Mickey Mouse platformer intended to rival Mario.

"I did some concept work on a license with a media company that was very cartoony, and boy, we did some great work," Spector said in an interview with Edge magazine just prior to the Disney buyout.

"It was the most fun I've had in a long time, maybe since Deus Ex. The work was phenomenal, and I'll never be able to show it or talk about it with anybody. But hopefully the project will happen. We were gonna let people live in a cartoon world, and it was going to be wacky."

Sounds an awful lot like Spector's wish may be coming true.

It's a game being published by Disney Interactive and being developed by Junction Point Studios, which was recently bought by Disney.

it depends. look at some of the movies they look somewhat creepy and have a creepy storyline but they are meant for kids. hopefully this game is not going to be for mature gamers because you can't make a disney game meant for adults its just not right disney is to kiddy which has made the company trillions of dollars since 1954. if they make this as and adult game they are not going to get as many sales as if they did it for kids because most people probably think the same thing i do that its just not right for disney to be devoloping a mature game, its wrong.

This would be pretty cool in kingdom hearts. It's pretty much the perfect inviorment for it. lol maybe the robot goofy could be goofys costume in the nightmare before Christmas world.

Great find Bleu, I agree that it could be pulled off very well too, if it has a good story, graphics, etc. And it looks like their doing a good job with that so far. Hopefully this game will actually be released.

Yeah I agree. As for my opinion of the game, I like the artwork and how its based for people at least over the age 10 but I you got to admit that the title sounds a little cheesy though.
