yes, the wii is targeted to kids, i think it's a smart idea.
look at kids today, they want to play video games, would a 5 year old girl rather play gears of war 2 or super princess peach?
would a 5 year old boy rather play call of duty 5 or pokemon?
kids will infact like nintendo games, but enough with what you know... say in year 1999 a 5 year old gets a N64 and a gameboy, the child plays the nintendo games (zelda, mario, pokemon) so today (2009) they venture for another console. when they go to gamestop they will see the wii, DS ps3,psp and 360. now the 15 year old must pick something, well the kid grew up on zelda so, he'll buy the wii and but zelda games. the kid may like the 360 but most will stick with the games they love, mario, zelda and pokemon.
look at it this way also (company wise)
ps3 and 360 target teens and young adults (15-25) good market, nut before and after those dates their screwed.
nintendo (5-50) anyone those ages can easily pick up a wiimote and help link slice open some goblins. after 50 your strechting the activness of the people but hey, it's easier to picture your grandmother playing cooking momma then telling a 10 year old to "shut the f*** up" on Halo.
nintendo is a amazingly smart company. they take one thing and make millions probly billions of dollars through top notch game design, sure they are missing that game for the teens (forget i said that after june 23rd, release date of conduit). but there are making games that small bobby and grandpa sal can play forever! not what Jeff can do for 6 years without a date (not to say all 360 and ps3er's are losers but a good percent have never left the basement). and besides we get female gamers too, girls love playign with our wii. on that note, i bid you ado, i got some algerbra to do and i wasted have my library computer time typing this idea i had while watching seinfeld last night.

*applaudes* good points! I agree with all that. I think it's nice that kids and adults of all ages can find a good system and games they like to play. And nintendo supplies the less hardcore games, that even hardcore gamers can enjoy most of the time. And I guess ps3 is for the growing up gamer like you said, for teens and up. And 360 (even though I highly dis like it and microsoft and the choices they make) has a wide variety of games.
