I would understand it if they dropped the price of the PS3's to boost sales and sale more games like Resistance 2, Infamous, and GT5 Prologue. But I don't really see how they can either, with the price they spend on making the system itself. They would be close to breaking even with profit and price if they drop it even lower than it is now. I would like to see it have the same price as the 360, to see how they would compare in sales, since everyone complains about the price.

You might be right about the cheaper model though, like the Arcade 360. There have been a lot of rumors about a Slim PS3 being announced at E3 this year, with some pictures posted on the internet of it. Maybe this will be the new PS3, with the same $400 price, and they will lower the price of the current PS3.

Hey we are on the same page here because I was also saving up for a PS3 and Thought it would take for ever to get one then I heard that the PS3 was going to drop down 100$ in the summer of mabey early early fall so don't buy one just yet.

sorry to say, if the ps3 is a reasonable price the 360 is screwed, if you make them the same price ps3 is way better than 360 (despite online but they could easily improve that)

Exactly what I was thinking, it would be really interesting to see what Microsoft would do (or is doing), to keep their sales above Sony's if they do drop the price.

That would be awesome for the ps3 to become as popular as that. not that it's not already popular it's just everywhere you look there's 360 stuff. Like whenever there's a review for a multi platfrom game it's the 360 version, and stuff like that. It just gets kind of annoying.

P.S the reason I've been so excited about ps3 lately is that my mom and I are working out a deal to get one in about a month or so.

the ps3 is dropping its price to 300 and the 360 is dropping its price to 260.
which means i might finally get one but that will be next year after school ends. i will let you ps3ers know when i get one

p.s samus i would wait until the end of the year because thats when the ps3 is dropping another hundred bucks for a total loss of 300 bucks since it launched

Most likely, the PS3 price drop will be announced at E3, and it will probably be $100. I also saw IGN and other sites saying that the slim PS3 was a fake, but we'll see.

Last year, I watched Nintendo's press conference live on G4. This year, they are covering the top 5 press conferences, which are Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Electronic Arts (EA) and one other one I cant remember.

Here is something I found on Kotaku about the price drop and the PS3 slim, which apparently is now official.

A "very well-informed mole" says that there won't be a PS3 Slim announcement next week at E3, and that the console won't be in stores until late summer or early fall. Why? "There are plenty of PS3 systems sitting on store shelves right now," writes Ars Technica, "and Sony is planning on sitting back and allowing the supply of those units to dry up over the summer."

A cease and desist was sent to Kotaku from Taiwanese attorneys after we posted apparent pics of the rumored PS3 Slim.

Don't expect a PS3 price cut, Ars Technica adds, but it is still a possibility. This echoes what Crecente said on the Bonus Round about price cuts — that Sony will want to save a price drop for a big announcement at this year's Tokyo Game Show. It seems to make better sense timing-wise, being close to the holidays. An early summer price drop announcement could paralyze console sales if the price drop did not immediately go into effect.

A Chinese company also sent a Cease and Desist order demanding the removal of the slim PS3 pics from websites like Engadget.

"We just find that the following web pages on your website contain some confidential document and photos, which were highly possibly illegally released and posted," the statement reads. "We are investigating this violation and will bring all necessary legal actions regarding this matter. In order to protect the confidential information and prevent you from further legal issues and infringements, please immediately remove those pages and keep our request confidential. Wait so the price drop is confirmed and the other company that is doing it is Ubisoft.

ps3 has a amazing system, the reason, why it's failing is price and online, drop your price, yeah your take a major hit, but then your get games sold and it will eventually even out, also it's SONY!!! they got some accident money. online could be a while to fix but even though i bash them SONY can do great things, (ps2)

yeah they might/probably will still drop the price but didn't announce it at e3. Kinda like nintendo with the new wii zelda.
