According to Wikipedia, the Wavebird was discontinued by Nintendo on January 2nd.
Aside from ebay, where is good location to purchase a brand new one?

Incase one does not know, the Wavebird is a wireless controller for the GameCube, which of course, can be used on the Wii Virtual Console and GameCube games.

I called 6 Gamestop locations, 1 walmart and 1 k-mart (k-mart is a hidden gem sometimes for electronics since the one in my area does not contain high traffic), and Nintendo directly. No one has the Wavebird.
I decided to order one used on Amazon.

If anyone has news, lets us know here on the forums.
Matt

Check Blockbuster video and other major video rental stores that rent games. I found my Wavebird at a Blockbuster.

Its not worth getting a wavebird, my cousons have two and they told me not to get one 2 years ago, because they dont have rumble, and they usse up batteries fast, i reccomend you just get an official gamecube controller and some extension cables.

This will actually be my second WaveBird (for two player fun on Mario Kart Double Dash!!). I did not see short battery life. I actually have the original batteries in my WaveBird, which are finally dying.

I think I'll check out Blockbuster tomorrow...

i purchased a knockoff, my only problem was remembering to turn it off, other than that it was fine.

Cheers :)

So I checked up Blockbuster (and visited the Gamestop next door just on the off chance that a WaveBird arrived). No luck. I'm going to stick with my Amazon.com order and call it good.

Hang on a second, whats so special about a wave bird over other wireless game cube controllers? it seems like all of you guys have one or are trying to get one...

What's the deal with the lack of Super Smash 64 on the wii shop channel. No, instead we get stuff like SnowBoard 180!

Update: I got a used wb from amazon, but it was a pile of crap. The previous owner apparently let his dog use it as a chew toy before ripping me off.
