A new Resident Evil game has been announced for the Wii by the newest issue of Famitsu magazine, called Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles. It will be a sequel of Umbrella Chronicles. Here is a pic of the magazine.

They look a lot different than the ones in Resident Evil 4 for the Wii, hopefully the game will be just as good.

Here are some more details on the game:
Darkside Chronicles is set during the events of Resident Evil 2.
You will revisit siginificant events from Resident Evil 2, as well as explore more areas.
Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield will be playable and other main charaters from the series will make appearances.
There will be newly improved controls and a new camera system.
It will release in Winter of 2009.

It has just been confirmed by the developers that it will be an on rails shooter, similar to The House of the Dead games and the new Dead Space game for the Wii.

I don't understand why developers make these either. It's just an easy way for them to make money. It's like they don't care about the quality of games anymore. The developer interview can be seen here:
