As the wii Menu 3.3 update, Freeloader and Twilight Hack were mentioned in the latest podcast, I thought I would share some of my knowledge concering them. If you already have the Homebrew Channel installed, you can update fine, and it will not be deleted, your wii will not be bricked, and nothing bad will happen. If you have an Old Twilight Hack Savefile, then it will be deleted, but nothing else will happen.
As For the Twilight Hack, there is a new version of it, avaliable here (direct link to file). Apart from it working with the wii menu 3.3, a numbet of changes have been made:
Copied from wiibrew.org site:
* The Twilight Hack is now compatible with version 3.3 of the Wii System Menu.
* Improvements in video configuration. The entire console should now be visible in all video modes, and scrolling has been improved.
* For the USA version, the two variants of the hack have been packed into one save file. Just select the save slot that corresponds to your version of Twilight Pricess when you start the game.
* New savegame icons by drmr. The new icons now show which region that version of the hack is for.
* This version now tries to load boot.dol, and falls back to boot.elf if boot.dol is not found.
* ???????
* Many, many bug fixes.
All these things are very good, also meaning it is easier to find ouy which savefile you need, and alsp, for PAL users (me) things will be alot better, as before this update we could only run in PAL-50 meaning it was slow, and only about 50% of apps actually worked.
Finally, regarding the freeloader. Yes, it is blocked by 3.3, however, there are, and has (have?) been for a long time, a free solution using the twilight hack. It is an app called Gecko Region Free (link to wiki page) Which works exactly like the freeloader, and is more convenient than it, if you use the homebrew channel.
I think that is all I have to say, but if anyone has anymore questions, just ask and I will do my best to answer. Also, check out the Wiibrew page, which is the home of the Twilight hack.
