It is almost June. Four weeks into summer vacation and it seems like things are progressing well. On the Wii front I have managed to scrape together enough funds to rent a few games from the local Video rental place and am on my way to playing most of the games that are out so far. On the not exactly Wii front, due to fact that most of the games are either not story based, or very short I have been able to regularly work and volunteer, as well as try to get outside and exercise a bit.
It is kind of a mixed blessing. There really are not a lot of games out so far for the Wii, (not as many as I was hoping for by this time anyway), and the ones that are out take only a few hours to get through.
Now I know that is a generalization; I didn't get all the way through Prince of Persia during the rental, but Spider-man 3 took only around five hours to beat the story part. Both games were a lot of fun, but after you beat the big bad-guys in Spider-man, there is little left to do but swing around.
Alright, so the swinging around was the best part of Spider-man, and having not done it in about a week it would be cool to swing around the city again, but soon enough the novelty wears off and the $60 game sits on the shelf waiting for a time when there is nothing to do and I have an itch to swing around again; I really could go on nitpicking Spider-man (not to mention how awful the movie was). My point is that I'm glad I have been renting games rather than buying them.
It has been nice playing the Wii more, and Wii Sports is still a game I go back to again and again (just a side note I suppose). Maybe I am greedy or impatient, but I really want much more from the Wii than what Nintendo seems to be providing right now. There are more and more games out for the Virtual Console and many games announced to be released in the future, but going to the store an looking for a game to pick up is a lot more challenging than it should be. In summary, not enough games and the games that are out are often too short and lacking in content such as multiplayer or on-line play.
Well, I am out of things to gripe about for the moment. All in all the Wii is still one of the coolest things out there and lots of fun to play.
